The origin of the "WalkLeft" moniker The "walk on the left side" concept is based on the long-taught "hiking-safely" rule of always walking on the left side of a road—facing the oncoming traffic. After following this rule during a five-month "across-America" trek in '92, I developed it into my daily way of life. The concept is simple—always face all encounters "straight-on". Do not turn away from adversaries, problems, or negative-thinking people. By maintaining positive thoughts, and a smile—I firmly believe that such encounters can't harm you. I have found that by starting each day with this attitude I have a much happier life. Of course there are times when I do slip—and allow negative thoughts to affect me. But a couple of minutes of reflection overcomes this. It works as long as I don't turn away from the cause of the negativity. I feel a strong "positive" can always neutralize any "negative". It may even reverse it! —— take care, Fred Turner |
